  • Hellekis Säteri - Hellekis is one of six estates with manor houses, all situated near each other on the west side of the mountain Kinnekulle. Lake Vänern, the largest in Sweden, is just a few hundred yards away, which helps the garden in the autumn and delays winter temperature. Kinnekulle is geological very interesting and contains five different levels. Hellekis is below the red limestone level and the earth is therefore all red and fertile. Depending on what can grow and be planted Sweden divides regions in different growing zones. Hellekis has number one, the same zone as the very south part of Sweden. In generations exotic trees has been planted in the park. Today there is 70 different kinds of leaf-trees. The Walnut trees gives fruit every year and the restaurant uses it in the bread and cooking. Linné mentioned the small forest of walnut trees, in his diary 1746. Other exotic trees here are Ginkgo biloba, Magnolia acuminata, Aesculus sativa, Sophora japonica and five impressive Fagus silvatica f.atropunicea. The garden also holds a rose garden as well as long perennial borders in different colours. Hellekis has a history back to the 14 th century. The manor house burned down 1698 but was built up again in 1707. The architecture is changed 1791 and has remained since then. The architects name was Olof Tempelman. The estate is private owned and belongs to the Klingspor family. Marie and Wilhelm Klingspor lives here with their 4 daughters that are the fifth generation at Kinnekulle. 1994 the family opened a part of the garden for public and at the same year a restaurant and a clothing shop was started on the farm. 30 000 people are visiting Hellekis each summer. At Hellekis you can also visit different art exibitions, both in the greenhouse and in the garden.
